I've read many of Osteen's book and devotionals. I usually find them to be encouraging and upbeat, as is the case with his latest.

Each devotion follows the typical pattern of a Bible verse, a title, a brief devotion, and a prayer. The short devotions are a great way to begin or end a busy day. I love the fact that this collection focuses on two of my favorite books of the Bible: Psalms and Proverbs.

A Fresh Use for These Classic Books

For centuries the Psalms and Proverbs have brought comfort and insight to Christians. Through PSALMS AND PROVERBS FOR EVERYDAY LIFE, bestselling author Joel Osteen has used these books to write 100 devotions.

In the introduction, Osteen writes, “Psalms is a book full of encouragement and helps us maintain an attitude of worship toward God. Proverbs is called “the book of wisdom.” It gives practical advice and insight for every day living.”

For example, a devotion titled, It’s Your Move, begins with Proverbs 24:35 “For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.” In the devotion, Osteen says, “Here’s the key: It’s not your fault that you got knocked down, but today’s Scripture says it is your responsibility to get back up. It was wrong that they hurt you and walked away…Your move when unfair things happen is to go forward in faith, trusting that God will make it up to you.” (Page 173 to 174)

Each devotion begins with a short Scripture and a brief devotion with a simple prayer. Whether you read them in the morning or at work or right before falling asleep, these devotions will encourage your spiritual life. I highly recommend this book.

I love devotionals, and I thoroughly enjoy Joel Osteen’s sermons, motivations, and numerous books, so I had no doubt I’d enjoy his most recent daily devotional book, “Psalms and Proverbs for Everyday Life.”

If you’ve listened to Joel Osteen’s sermons or podcasts, or read any of his motivational and inspiring books, then you’ll appreciate the same upbeat and encouraging attitudes in this sweet devotional based on Scripture verses found in Psalms and Proverbs.

Each daily reading begins with a Scripture verse, and the reading is followed by a brief prayer. This is an easy way to start the day in a positive light, even for the busiest people. It truly only takes a minute or two, and will most certainly make your day brighter, lighter, and uplifting.

These 100 devotions touch on special psalms and proverbs to encourage, inspire, and enlighten you on your daily walk. It’s perhaps one of Osteen’s simplest devotionals yet, and one of my favorites!

First Line (Introduction): My favorite way to start the day is with prayer and worship and by reading God’s Word.

In the introduction of Psalms and Proverbs for Everyday Life by Joel Osteen, Osteen talks about how his parents taught their children to read the Bible every morning. That is a great legacy to have. However, I would add that if you aren't a morning person, read it every night or at noon. Whatever time of day works for you is fine--the important thing is to do it consistently.

Psalms and Proverbs for Everyday Life includes 100 daily devotions. Each devotion starts with a Bible verse, then there are two or three paragraphs of a reading to reflect on the Bible passage, and concluding with a prayer for the day. This book is full of short readings that are all based on Psalms and Proverbs, as you would expect. The readings are all uplifting and offer hope in the midst of today's challenging world. The book is a nice size to carry along or leave on a night stand as it measures about 5 by 7 inches in size.

I like this edition of Psalms and Proverbs for Everyday Life. I think this is a good book to read in the middle of the day for me. It is a little lighter than I like to use for my regular readings but it is one that would definitely be a pick-me-up in the midst of the day. I also think it would make a nice gift for the right person.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions within this review are my own.

Psalms and Proverbs for Everyday Life: 100 Daily Devotions (Hardcover)by Joel Osteen is a short book, filled with a powerful punch. I don't typically like many of Osteen's books, but this one wasn't too bad. The daily devotions were practical, somewhat helpful, and very encouraging. They are also easy to read and simple to understand.
