NC DPI Press Release | June 4, 2024: Over 44,000 Elementary Educators Master Science of Reading Professional Development -Throughout the summit, postsecondary leaders from over 30 institutions across North Carolina had the opportunity to advance their knowledge in the science of reading, exchange information and hear from in-service teachers about their experience putting the science of reading into practice. The goal of the annual summit is to help develop and implement aligned processes and resources to increase support for teacher candidates before they enter the classroom.

- WITN - Web Team | June 3, 2024: State committee upholds decision to shut down Children’s Village Academy (WITN) A State School Board panel voted to uphold last month’s decision to close a Kinston charter school. In a special meeting this morning, the Education Innovation and Charter Schools Committee unanimously voted to not renew the charter for Children’s Village Academy when it expires at the end of the month. The full State Board of Education will vote on the appeal at its meeting on Thursday.
